Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins is a Mexican American journalist. Her current job is with ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. In 2016, she was a part of ESPN. She's the daughter of TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was bilingual since the age of nine years old. It was a helpful skill that helped her secure her first job as a production assistant at Univision in Miami which allowed her to work with the producers of National programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next assignment was a Sports Reporter at CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist at KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. In addition to reporting on issues related to trafficking in drugs and immigration on both sides of Mexico-Texas border, she served as a reporter on newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor, reporter and later anchor for the 9 p.m. news in English as well as a reporter again for 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. Also, she would fill in at times as a news and sport anchor. Later, she was anchor and reporter for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She also did segments on MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Also, she produced Univision 23's local sports channel Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she acted as anchor. She was promoted as a sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. She also played the job for Primer Impacto on UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta Collins' grandparents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. She also has an older sister. In 1992 her family left Mexico and relocated to Miami. The couple divorced shortly after in 1995. Her mother remarried an architect from the naval profession called Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. While on a vacation, Antonietta stayed at the house of her sister Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sibling had recently gotten the job of his dreams. Antonietta was about to graduate from high school, but was already aware of her plans for what she would be doing. It was a beautiful campus and provided the education she wanted. After high school, she graduated and enrolled into media school at the university. Mark Bergmann was her professor and also the head of WRMU in which she is a member. They developed a close relationship. It was he who inspired her confidence and whose passion for Journalism deeply touched her. She was determined to exceed his expectations, never letting him down.
